Non-contact bumper without back pressure

Task
Products have different shapes, materials and texturessome surfaces are very sensitive or packaging is often not dimensionally stable. In order to store the products as carefully as possible on transport lines, a system is to be developed that buffers the products without back pressure and without touching them. The storage solution should also adapt dynamically to the product quantity and convey the products according to the "first in first out" principle. In order to be able to buffer products of different sizes without retrofitting, complex product flow systems should be avoided.

With the help of the Versaflex flat top chain conveyor system, a buffer system was implemented whereby the conveying path adapts to the amount of products to be buffered. The system can thus work without back pressure. The flat top chain does not push the products together or against product flow systems. Therefore there is no back pressure and the products do not touch. In addition, sensitive surfaces on the contact area are not damaged, since there is no relative motion between the product and the conveyor surface. Among other things, the system prevents products from jamming on product flow systems or bags being pushed over one another.
The standardised modules and components of Versaflex make it simple and cost effective to integrate the system into any production process, as well as to adapt and expand it.
