Sample separation in the pharmaceutical industry
Problem definition
In a production process for pharmaceutical products, glass bottles are to be supplied to a packaging station. The interlinking system is to transport 180 bottles per minute and should contain a sample separator. Both the side rail and the separator must be configurable to transport different types of bottles. In addition, the belt conveyor must be soundproof for a quiet production area. The surfaces of all components must be easily accessible, easy to clean and resistant to common cleaning agents.

An MBF-P modular belt conveyor with adjustable side rails was used as an interlinking system to suit the different dimensions of bottle. The sound insulation around the conveyor consists of a fixed soundproof hood with hinged cover made of Series 40 Aluminium Profiles and stainless steel sheets with soundproof mats and electrical detection. The separator is also insulated and has interchangeable curved sections made of plastic to accommodate the different bottle dimensions. Connected to this is a sheet trap made of stainless steel to remove the samples. To avoid dust deposits in inaccessible areas, the profile slots are sealed with closure strips.
