Construction of an individual work table for a new assembly process
An office supplies manufacturer requires a manual workstation for the assembly of choral folders. These are special music folders for choir members, with an ergonomic handle on the spine, ring mechanism, rubber mounts and clear pockets. The individual parts of the folders are to be assembled by hand. An ergonomic workstation is to be developed for this purpose, allowing routine processes such as riveting the handles to be carried out productively and without physical strain.
In collaboration with the experts at mk, this special workstation was developed to meet the requirements of the assembly process and ensure the possibility of later adaptation.
Special workstation in modular design for ergonomic and careful assembly
The base of the workstation is a 1,400 x 750 mm table frame with a stable desk design, made of robust mk Series 40 aluminium sections. A manual hydraulic height adjuster is integrated to quickly adjust the working height to the employee's height. The table top is a 40 mm beech plywood board, which has already proven successful many times in the customer's production process. Mounted on the table top is a stop and support element made of PE100 plastic. This acts as a guide limiting any damage to the hard cardboard of the folders. The handle is inserted into a recess in the table top to prevent it from twisting or slipping during riveting.
A portal structure was created at the back of the table, which serves as a support structure for shelves and tools. Among other items, the riveting tool is stored there on a spring balancer, making it ergonomic and easy to handle. Also within easy reach are two swivel arms, storage boxes and shelves for various materials.
