Protective housing for 45-metre long assembly system
Task
A fully automatic assembly line for suction pipe modules that is approximately 45-metres long needs to be equipped with guarding, including protective fences and machine housings. Passages and transitions for system maintenance also need to be created. Mounting occurs at several stations along a circulation route. Both an mk pallet measuring 500 x 500 mm and an mk SRF-P-2010 accumulating roller chain conveyor are used for transportation. The assembly line was developed by our subsidiary mkf GmbH.

Frames made of aluminium profiles with fixed 6 mm polycarbonate panes were designed to protect the assembly and testing stations. The panes are 2.2 metres high and 5 m long. Protective doors with safety interlocks and locking devices were installed for maintenance purposes.
The palletising robots are protected with protective fence partitions, which are also made of aluminium profiles with fixed 6 mm polycarbonate panes. Protective doors with safety interlocks, locking devices and an emergency release were installed for maintenance purposes. The openings for the supply and discharge of material are secured with light barriers equipped with a muting function.
Stations in which lasers are used are secured by frames with bolted 2 mm coated steel to prevent laser light from escaping. In addition, a control window is equipped with special laser safety glass. Pallet transfer is secured via lock gates with a brush strip and safety interlocks.
The transfer line is also equipped with transfers made of aluminium profiles to ensure safe and easy access to all areas of the system.
