A European helicopter and aircraft component manufacturer requires various mobile assembly platforms and work platforms for the assembly of helicopters. These platforms have to be adapted to the height and contours of the helicopters and fitted with different levels and in some cases multiple stairways. It should be possible for them to stand alone or be rotated to connect to each other. In addition, free span widths of up to eight metres must be provided to ensure unobstructed access to the helicopters below the platforms. The various platforms should be supplied with electricity in accordance with the customer’s specifications and equipped with compressed air connections, while some must also include height adjustment, folding guardrails and flaps in the platform floor.
The assembly platform, guardrails and stairs were designed based on profiles from series 40. Sections with particularly high loads consist of profiles from series 60. The use of swivel joints allows the platforms to be precisely adapted to the contour of the helicopter. In addition, the helicopter-side edges have been provided with rubber buffer profiles to avoid damage while lining up the platforms. Various swivel casters and air cushions allow the platforms to be moved simply and freely. Levelling pads ensure easy height adjustment in fixed positions. The assembly platform is fully fitted and connected with all the required pneumatic and electrical equipment.
