Sustainability and Engagement

For Society and the Environment

To be truly sustainable, a company needs to be deeply engaged with its social and cultural environment. The company’s owners, the Kitz family, have kept mk Group involved since the very beginning. Both inside the company and in the regions surrounding our locations.

As a family-run company, we take work-life balance very seriously. Our flexible work models allow our employees to arrange their schedules as their families and lives require. Since 2017, mk has also maintained active health management within the company. In cooperation with external partners, mk offers its employees regular “days of action” to inform them about various health topics and to provide advice and answer questions about all aspects of their personal well-being.

For a careful use of energy, material and resources, we also act sustainably according to a certified energy management. We obtain our electricity from 100% renewable energies and our own photovoltaic systems on our hall roofs. Our apprentices are also actively involved as "energy scouts" for the IHK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg. They won first prize with an LED lighting concept and energy guidelines for day-to-day operations.

Sascha Krebs, Managing Director of Maschinenbau Kitz
I’m convinced that our corporate engagement is making a significant contribution to positive and sustainable social development while also strengthening the company.

In keeping with our motto, “Passion for Technology”, we happily lend our support and donations to various educational and research institutions. We support universities such as the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and RWTH Aachen University, as well as research groups like the Formula Student BRS and the Akaflieg.

Supporting local sports and clubs is a particular passion of ours. In addition to sponsoring local sport clubs (football, volleyball and others) and employee athletes (in canoeing, racing and others), Maschinenbau Kitz also supports regional non-profit organisations such as THW and DRK as well as charitable groups such as the Kinderstiftung children’s organisation and Bilbassi e.V. We are also particularly proud of our support for the Cologne Zoo and for various clubs that organise Carnival celebrations.
