In the optical industry, a manufacturer of lasers and laser-based solutions wants to subdivide its newly created ISO-6 clean room into areas with a wide variety of functions and production processes. Production enclosures are to be created for the development, manufacture, assembly and quality control of the various product series. The majority of the enclosures must be lightproof for laser shielding. Each enclosure must also have its own access, but still maintain the required level of protection. Furthermore, since this is a new high-tech production facility, the enclosures should also look uncluttered and fit with the overall appearance of the hall. Finally, for easier assembly on site, the enclosures should be partially pre-assembled.
Floor-to-ceiling partitions were constructed from mk Series 40 profiles, covered with aluminium sheet panelling. Levelling feet allow the enclosures to be individually adapted and levelled to the floor conditions on site. Each enclosure contains a sliding door with handles and mechanical solenoid latch. Internal tension plugs also provide a sleeker appearance without obstructing edges. The modular mk profile system and T-slots allow extensions to be easily retrofitted inside the enclosure. To comply with laser protection requirements, approx. 60% of the enclosures are completely black anodised.
While pre-assembled L-shaped and U-shaped partitions were constructed to ensure optimal use of space and easy on-site assembly. These partitions could be fastened together to create a total of 82 enclosures, forming a sealed unit within the overall structure. Thanks to the modular design and the simple assembly of the mk guarding, the customer was able to complete the enclosures independently after just a short period of training.
